	HOLMES COOL MIST HUMIDIFIERS HOLMES cool mist humidifiers deliver cool soothing moisture that brings relief for dry skin, nose, and throat and protects household plants, furniture and hardwood floors from dry air. To produce moisture HOLMES cool mist humidifiers use the evaporative wicks placed in the water tub. The evaporative wicks soak the water and give away the moisture to the passing through air. Evaporative wicks collect minerals and calcium from the water and loose the efficiency with time. On average, the lifetime of one set of the evaporative wicks - 2 to 3 months depending on the quality of water. Special treatment of the evaporative wicks (Microban) inhibits growth of odors causing bacteria, mold and mildew. The water softener can extend the lifetime of the evaporative wicks. Cool mist humidifiers use relatively large fan and electric motor which results in slightly higher level of noise over warm mist humidifiers. Exception the models W-6, W-7, W-9. Cool mist humidifiers are energy efficient units as they require 1/5 to 1/10 the power of the warm mist humidifiers.
